Always remember working smarter doesnt mean less work or more time to do work, but it means knowing how to prioritize and delegate where ever possible. I often was asked what does flexible working entail? is it getting into work in flexible hours? or being able to prioritize and work smart? Success at work means smart and flexible working keeping in mind prioritizing as well as delegating.

By prioritizing you ensure you have a daily to do list ensuring that you do the important things first and leave the less important things for later.Smart and flexible working means not taking work home because you didnt manage to prioritize..

Organizations can facilitate the employees to smart and flexible working by putting in place adequate information systems, such as whom to call documents incase there is need for information on a particular tasks, it has been found very useful for such a document.

Furthermore facilitating the employees with working tools (..yes working tools) like in/out trays to assist in arranging documents of priority and not, policies on smart and flexible working.

In addition smart and flexible working creates autonomy and has a focus on output rather than input- simply put that if you are able to prioritize and do the important things first, obviously those are the ones on your goals, on the organization strategic plan and hence the outputs are bound to be positive.

Smart and flexible working also means working with teams, be it virtual teams or teams on site to achieve common goals.

Aligning individual goals to those of the organization is important in this aspect as it will increase the urge to work smart, since while achieving the organization goals you also achieve your own goals.

Mobile email system is also working smart and flexbile, you may be at a meeting and have a five minute break to check that important email which could assist in achieving a diverse range of business goals.

Remote working is also one of the in trends in terms of working smart and flexible, as one may be able to work at their pace, at their leisure without being told what to do, thus the autonomy factor.

Smart and flexible working is about bringing people(HR), processes, connectivity and technology, time and place together to find the most appropriate and effective way of working to carry out a particular task. It is working within guidelines (of the task) but without boundaries (of how you achieve it).

Smart and flexible working will also assist families to become more cohesive as parents are readily able to finalize tasks on time, less stressed, as well as for those working mums who can opt to work from home are able to take care of their children and still deliver their best at their offices.

Even while I write this article I consider is possible due to flexible working, and smart working too, as I was able to work on tasks on my office desk and spared time to write on the benefits of such a system.
